CoderZ Named SIIA Education Technology 2019 CODiE Award Finalist
for Best Coding & Computational Thinking Solution

CoderZ, an online learning environment for programming real and virtual robots, has been named a 2019 SIIA CODiE Award finalist in the Best Coding & Computational Thinking Solution category. Award finalists represent applications, products and services from developers of educational software, digital content, online learning services and related technologies across the PreK-20 sector.

Coding CompetitionCoderZ is a powerful, easy to use online platform designed to teach students in grades 6-12 valuable STEM skills such as coding, robotics and physical computing via a fun gamified interface with an online code editor and 3D virtual robots.

CoderZ is unique because it brings STEM, coding and robotics to a much wider audience than traditional robotics. Online robotics reaches more schools, students of all genders and is easier and more cost effective to implement.

CoderZ caters to both novices and experts, offering a simple, Scratch-like language called Blockly for new coders or allowing more advanced students to start working directly with Java code. Students learn and practice coding skills by completing missions with their cyber-virtual robot, which reacts directly to students’ input.

One CODiE judge called CoderZ, “An impressive, targeted product, creating a full introductory curriculum for coding using virtual robots.” Another noted, “Computational thinking is addressed throughout the entire platform. From beginning coding to more advanced programming applications for the higher-level students in all grades, I can see the possibility of even in secondary education such as colleges.”

“We are truly honored to be in the finals as one of the best coding and computational thinking solutions in the CODiE awards program,” said Ido Yerushalmi, CEO of CoderZ. “We are committed to providing schools with an affordable way to give students access to robotics programming for many years to come.”

The SIIA CODiE Awards are the premier awards for the software and information industries and have recognized product excellence for more than 30 years. The awards offer 76 categories that are organized by industry focus of education technology and business technology. CoderZ was honored as one of 139 finalists across the 32 education technology categories.

“The 2019 CODiE Award finalists represent the finest in innovation and creativity in educational technology,” said President Jeff Joseph at SIIA. “These breakthrough products are opening doors for learners of all ages by developing and utilizing new technologies to respond to diverse student and educator needs.”

The SIIA CODiE Awards are the industry’s only peer-reviewed awards program. Educators and administrators serve as judges and conduct the first-round review of all education nominees. Their scores determine the SIIA CODiE Award finalists, and SIIA members then vote on the finalist products. The scores from both rounds are tabulated to select the winners.

Winners will be announced during a CODiE Award Celebration at the Ed Tech Industry Conference & CODiE Awards in San Francisco on June 11.
